This is going to be a short and bittersweet post.
I’ve been very happy at SRCS and will miss many wonderful people and aspects of my job there.
But when you know you need to move on… you really know. Doesn’t matter whether you lift your head like Mary Poppins and feel the wind change (here‘s a crazy thread for you) or try to describe it the way Joni Mitchell did.
You just know.
In this instance, while I’ve had an extended portfolio and opportunities to develop .NET applications even though I was technically the DBA, I felt the need to assume a role where I was really expected to do that type of thing, full-on.
I want to spend my day designing and building software, developing new techniques, and enabling software teams with new tools.
So, I’m going to do that. Starting tomorrow, I am Principal Software Architect for the portal framework in Infor Enwisen HR Service Delivery.
While there will still be a lot of scope for data-centric (or at least data-integration-centric) work in this role, I imagine that the focus of this blog will change, somewhat.
Expect a short lull, first. And then… let’s see what happens next…
Congrats on the new job! Sounds exciting.
Thanks Doug. Yeah, I'm pretty lucky. Just when I think I have already faced my most intriguing challenge(s)… something new and wonderful comes along. 🙂
Bittersweet, indeed! Best wishes on your next venture! Looking forward to new posts, once you've settled in a bit.
