I use the &#8220;standalone&#8221; Windows installation. Each time a new version is released (20.04, 20.08) I&#8217;ve had this error come up when I try to render a video:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>this application failed to start: No QT platform plugin could be initialized<\/p><cite>MELT<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve looked it up twice now, and for future reference, here is what I needed to do both times: Fix the paths in environment settings, because they retain the location of the previous installation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1021\" height=\"463\" src=\"http:\/\/spacefold.com\/colin\/morethanfour\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/image-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-271\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spacefold.com\/colin\/morethanfour\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/image-1.png 1021w, https:\/\/spacefold.com\/colin\/morethanfour\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/image-1-300x136.png 300w, https:\/\/spacefold.com\/colin\/morethanfour\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/image-1-768x348.png 768w, https:\/\/spacefold.com\/colin\/morethanfour\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/image-1-676x307.png 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1021px) 100vw, 1021px\" \/><figcaption>These paths have been adjusted to match the new install for 20.08<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KDenLive has been my application of choice for video editing for the last 12 months or so.
