The Time Machine (2002)Fri, 08 March 2002 04:34 in Film Reviews
"The Time Machine" is probably one of my favourite Wellsian short SF stories, and although it is debatable as to whether it needed a remake or not, given the material we figured that it had to be enjoyable on some level. Indeed, I found it quite well done in parts, although parts of it are either unintentionally funny or just silly. The time travel paradox is actually dealt with quite elegantly, which I found refreshing in a popular SF movie. There is a point near the end where the plot really loses it from an internal consistency point of view, but the visual beauty make up for that. The special effects are good, and watching Jeremy Irons chew the scenery is always fun. Three stars. « From the You-don't-know-what-you're-missing dept. | Movie at Palms with Buffet » |
